Letter from CEO

It wasn’t long after I started Vital Link Medical Alert Systems back in 1981 that I began to understand how we made a difference in people’s lives and how working with our clients began to affect mine.

Back then, I assembled the equipment, handled the sales, installations, administration and made sure that all our clients were comfortable with using Vital Link.

In the early days I was notified by our monitoring center on every emergency. Many times I would receive multiple calls throughout the night to make sure that everything went as planned. As we grew, I couldn’t do that for everyone, but I wanted to keep that personal touch alive. We are still one of the few medical alert companies that does in home installations and checks up on our clients to see how they’re after they have used our service.

Since I took part in all aspects of our business from the start, I’ve always felt very connected to our clients and felt quite strongly how important Vital Link was to helping them keep their independence while providing peace of mind to them and their families.

Since 1981, I’ve listened and learned from our clients’ stories and the reasons why they needed our service. Many have told me how they had fallen and weren’t able to get help as they laid on the floor all night. My heart went out to them, and I was honored to be able to present a solution to keep them living safely and independently in their homes.

I always wanted to create a business that took care of people and focused on service and making a positive impact on our community rather than concentrating on growth and profits. We have always made a priority of supporting compassionate causes rather than spending resources on marketing and advertising.  We reduce our rates for low income clients, Meals on Wheels recipients and veterans as a way to give back to those in need. Being President of the Board for Meals on Wheels of Alameda County allowed me to serve many of our frail, homebound seniors on a volunteer basis. I started providing pro bono service for our local Holocaust survivors after some of them shared their stories with my son’s middle school class. I wanted to show him the importance of giving back to our community and for him to hear the survivor’s experiences while we brought our systems into their homes.

As a true family business, it’s very rewarding being able to work side by side with my son Asher who grew up in our business and is now our Director of Operations. Over the years my wife, daughter, sister, niece and close friends have been and are involved in our company.

In the early days I was able to provide Vital Link services and protect my grandparents and their peers, then my parents and their friends and now my contemporaries. Even I relied on our service when both of my hips were replaced and I had limited mobility.

Our goal is to make the entire process courteous, professional and seamless for our clients and their families. We are here to provide solutions while communicating in a warm and personal way. When you call us, you will always speak to one of our caring staff directly. There’s no pushing one for this department or two for that department. Openness, honesty, integrity and respect are at our core.

You can always be assured that we are going to treat you and yours like family and do exactly what we say we are going to do. We work hard to go beyond and exceed our client’s expectations. We’re here to make your life easier and provide you with security and peace of mind.

On behalf of our hardworking staff, I’d like to thank you for the trust you have placed in Vital Link Medical Alert Systems.

Sincerely,

Arthur Hoffman,
