The Caregiver App: See How Someone Is Doing Without Calling to Check
If someone in your family wears a Mobile X, you can add the Caregiver app and see where the device is, whether it has battery, and whether they have been up and moving today. It costs $10 a month and it works on iPhone and Android.
$10 a month
Added to a Mobile X. The app itself is free to download. The $10 is the service that connects it to the device, and we switch it on for you. Call (510) 338-3466 and we will set it up.
What You Can Actually See
This is the whole list, not a sample. The app is called Caregiver Mobile, it is made by Freeus, the company that makes the device, and these are its features as the maker documents them.
| Where they are | Locate the device on demand. |
| Places | Save the places they go often, the senior center, a daughter’s house, the church, and get a notification when they arrive and when they leave. |
| Did they get up today | The app records the first movement of the day. You can set a time you expect it by, and be told if it has not happened. |
| Alerts sent to your phone | Button presses, falls, low battery, the device being powered off, first motion of the day, and no first motion. |
| Ring the device | Make it sound, for when it has been put down somewhere and nobody can find it. |
| Battery | Check the charge without asking them to look. |
| History | Past button presses, and the record of when they first moved each day. |
| Steps | Daily step count with a goal you can set. |
| More than one person | Follow several devices in one app, with notifications for each. Useful if you are looking after both parents. |
The Two Features Families Do Not Expect
No first motion. Most people buy a medical alert for the emergency. This is the opposite: it tells you when nothing has happened. If your mother is normally up by eight and the device has not moved by ten, your phone says so. You can call before it is an emergency instead of after.
Places. Save the places someone goes regularly and the app tells you when they arrive and when they leave. For a family worried about someone who wanders, or simply about whether they made it to the appointment, that is the difference between wondering and knowing.
What It Is Not
We would rather you know this before you pay for it.
- It is not the monitoring. When the button is pressed or a fall is detected, our monitoring center answers and sends help. That happens whether or not anyone has this app. The app tells the family what happened, it does not replace the people who respond.
- It only tracks the device, not the person. If the Mobile X is on the kitchen counter, the app shows you the kitchen counter. It is only as good as whether they wear it.
- It is for the Mobile X only. The Mobile W does not work with it, and neither do the home systems. If the app matters to your family, choose the Mobile X.
- It should be a conversation, not a surprise. Someone finding out later that their movements were being watched does not go well. In our experience the families this works for are the ones who set it up together.
Who It Is For
The clearest case is an adult child who does not live close by. You are in Sacramento or Chicago, your father is in Oakland, and the honest state of things is that you have no idea how his day went unless you phone and he tells you. The app closes that gap without making him report in.
It also suits a household where one person is the caregiver and simply cannot be in two rooms at once, and families splitting the responsibility between several siblings, since more than one person can follow the same device.
Nothing about the app is age specific. The device is a medical alert, but the questions it answers, where are they, did they get where they were going, are they up and about, are the same at any age. If you are looking after someone younger who has seizures, diabetes or a condition that can leave them unable to call, the Mobile X and this app do the same job. Call us and describe the situation and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the Caregiver app cost?
$10 a month, added to a Mobile X. The app itself is a free download. The monthly charge is for the service that connects the app to the device, which we switch on for you.
Which system works with the app?
The Mobile X. The Mobile W, the Mobile Link, the Home Link and the Cellular Home Link do not work with it.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, both. The app is called Caregiver Mobile and is published by Freeus, the maker of the device.
Can more than one family member use it?
Yes. Several people can follow the same device, and one person can follow more than one device. Tell us who should have access and we will set it up.
Will I be told if they fall?
Yes, the app sends a notification for falls and for button presses. Our monitoring center is alerted at the same time and responds regardless, so nothing depends on you seeing the notification.
Can I see if they got out of bed?
Yes. The app records the first movement of the day, you can set the time you expect it by, and it will tell you if that has not happened.
What is Places?
Locations you save, like a senior center or a family member’s house. The app notifies you when the device arrives at one and when it leaves.
Does the app replace the monitoring service?
No. When the button is pressed or a fall is detected, our monitoring center answers and sends help. The app keeps the family informed. It is an addition, not a substitute.
What if they take the device off?
Then the app shows you where the device is, not where the person is. It is only useful if the device is worn, which is the same limitation as the medical alert itself.
Can I add it later?
Yes. There is no contract and we do not raise rates, so it can be added or dropped whenever the situation changes. Call the office.
